Football legend, Siyabonga Nomvete, backs KwaZulu-Natal tourism

Reflecting on his travels across the province throughout his football career, Nomvete said KwaZulu-Natal remains one of South Africa's most remarkable destinations.

Former Bafana Bafana striker, Siyabonga Nomvete, who proudly represented South Africa at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, visited the KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority stand at the House and Garden Show following his recent return from Mexico, where he joined fellow South African football legends in supporting Bafana Bafana at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Nomvete, who also recently participated in a football legends tournament in Botswana, was welcomed by radio personality, Carol Ofori, musician, Kyle Deutsch and his daughter, Presley during his visit to the stand.

One of South Africa’s most accomplished footballers, Nomvete enjoyed a distinguished career with Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu FC and professional clubs in Italy, Denmark and Sweden. Although retired from professional football, he has spent the past three years investing in youth football development, helping to inspire the next generation of players.

Reflecting on his travels across the province throughout his football career, Nomvete said KwaZulu-Natal remains one of South Africa’s most remarkable destinations.

“I’ve travelled the length and breadth of KwaZulu-Natal through football, and every visit reminds me why this province is so special. Visitors don’t just come here for the scenery; they experience our culture, our heritage and the warmth of our people. Tourism also gives young people the opportunity to learn about their own province while appreciating the rich diversity that makes KwaZulu-Natal unique. There is no doubt that I love KZN,” he said.
