Mother killed in Kharwastan home invasion

Communications officer of the eThekwini Inner South cluster, Cpt Cheryl Pillay, said, “It is alleged that the pensioner was at home when two robbery suspects entered the home, overpowering her. The suspects allegedly fled with household items, valued at about R50, 000. Police have intensified their search for the suspects.”

A 72-year-old pensioner was allegedly strangled to death in Robin Street in Kharwastan, earlier this morning (Tuesday, February 18).

The suspects allegedly fled with household items, valued at about R50, 000. Police have intensified their search for the suspects.”

Sam Pillay, PRO of the Kharwastan CPF, stated that the community has been left shattered by the incident.

Chatsworth SAPS is investigating cases of murder and house robbery.

The area was cordoned off by police.

Police are advising residents to be alert at all times.

“Secure your property, ensuring that all gates and windows are properly locked,” concluded Cpt Pillay.
