Joint police operation nets suspect with illegal pistol and homemade gun
Police are working to resolve the case as part of ongoing law enforcement operations scheduled throughout the city.
One suspect was arrested in the Outer West region for illegal gun and weapon possession during a joint operation by the Metro Trio Unit, Durban North Trio, Newlands East Trio, and the Outer West Policing Team.

The suspect was found in possession of a 9mm pistol and a homemade firearm. As law enforcement continues with investigations, Metro Police spokesperson, Colonel Boysie Zungu applauded the collaboration.
“During the operation, officers also searched two premises where blank firearms were recovered,” Col Zungu said.

“Illegal gun cartels are a major threat to residents’ lives and businesses, driving the spike in criminal activity and the murder rate. As concerns rise, so do our efforts to curb illegal activities,” Col Zungu concluded.
