Umlazi SAPS arrests man with unlicensed revolver
The station commander of Umlazi SAPS, Brig Bonginkosi Nkabinde, applauded the crime prevention officers for their swift response and dedicated efforts in keeping the community of Umlazi safe.
The Umlazi SAPS crime prevention unit has once again made strides in the crackdown on illegal firearms after arresting a 37-year-old man for being in possession of an unlicensed revolver.

Cnst GS Nyoni of Umlazi SAPS’ communications department, said, “On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at about 4:30pm, police officers received a tip-off regarding a suspect in possession of a firearm along the Mangosuthu Highway. Police officers responded swiftly and spotted the suspect.” The suspect was searched and found to be in possession of a black 38 special revolver without a license. The firearm reportedly belonged to his friend.

“The suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm. The firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to determine if it was used in the commission of any other crimes. The suspect will soon appear in court,” Cnst Nyoni added.
