Hijacked delivery truck recovered as three suspects arrested
The victim positively identified all three suspects at the scene. They were detained at Wentworth SAPS along with the recovered vehicle.
A joint police and security operation led to three arrests and the recovery of a hijacked delivery truck, firearm, and ammunition on Quality Street, recently.
Wentworth SAPS crime prevention officers were patrolling the area when they noticed a white Hyundai delivery truck with three occupants speeding and driving recklessly.
Officers pursued the vehicle, switched on blue lights, and ordered the driver to stop. A search of the men, aged 29, 30, and 35, revealed an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in the possession of the 35-year-old suspect.

While police were still at the scene, Lamontville SAPS VISPOL arrived with a hijacking victim and Matrix Tracking officers.
The victim told police that he had been hijacked at gunpoint in Mayville, robbed of cash and belongings, abducted and later dumped on the M4 freeway.
He flagged down Lamontville officers, who used tracking data to locate the truck.

The suspects have been linked to Mayville and Wentworth cases of carjacking and possession of suspected stolen property.

Acting station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Cheryl Pillay, commended the police officers and role-players for their swift response.
“Working together, we can achieve more. Act against crime together,” Lt Col Pillay said.
