Moti Cares and Wise Giving Foundation bring winter relief to Narens Farm community

The outreach saw approximately 600 residents, including elderly people, women, men, and children, benefiting from the distribution, which also included additional care packs for children.

Residents of Narens Farm informal settlement in Lenasia South received much-needed winter relief on Sunday, June 14, as a joint community effort between Wise Giving Foundation and Moti Cares.

They delivered blankets and bread to vulnerable households facing harsh winter conditions.

The outreach saw approximately 600 residents, including elderly people, women, men, and children, benefiting from the distribution, which also included additional care packs for children.

The initiative formed part of a co-ordinated response to rising community hardship in the informal settlement, where many families continue to struggle with poverty and limited access to basic services.

Wise Giving Foundation, a community-based non-profit organisation founded in 2022 by Fikile Majozi, played a central role in identifying and organising beneficiaries within the area.

The foundation, established in response to growing post-COVID-19 hardship, supports underprivileged families through food assistance, a community kitchen, tutoring and homework support, provision of sanitary pads for girls, and broader social welfare services.

The partnership with Moti Cares came after the foundation identified the initiative through social media and successfully applied for support. The visit and donation were warmly received by residents, who gathered to receive assistance during the winter cold.

The support was provided through Moti Cares as part of its 2026 winter drive, an ongoing national initiative aimed at distributing 20, 000 blankets across South Africa during the winter season. The programme focuses on reaching vulnerable communities through partnerships with trusted local organisations that understand on-the-ground needs.

The collaboration highlights the importance of working with community-based structures to ensure aid reaches those who need it most.

The Narens Farm initiative forms part of a broader campaign in which Moti Cares continues to roll out weekly winter distributions across the country, encouraging public participation by nominating communities and families in need through its official platforms.

For residents of Narens Farm, the day brought visible relief and a moment of dignity amid difficult circumstances, as households returned home with blankets and bread to help them endure the winter cold.
