Phoenix Child Welfare has launched its new ‘Adopt-A-Need’ campaign, calling on individuals, businesses and organisations to partner with the organisation in supporting vulnerable children living at the Phoenix Children’s Home.
Established in 1981, Phoenix Child Welfare is a registered non-profit organisation serving the communities of Phoenix, Mount Moriah, and Mount Royal.

A key component of its work is the Phoenix Children’s Home, which opened in May 2019 to provide holistic care for children in urgent need of protection.
The home was established to reduce the trauma often associated with the removal of children from their families by allowing them to remain within their community, preserving cultural identity and maintaining a sense of belonging and stability.
The home currently accommodates 12 children, aged between four and 20 years, including three boys and nine girls.
Their daily care is overseen by two permanent house mothers and two relief house mothers, who provide a nurturing and structured environment.
The Phoenix Child Welfare remains committed to meeting the physical, emotional and developmental needs of the children through nutritious meals, safe accommodation, educational support and recreational opportunities.
However, increasing demands on resources have highlighted the need for stronger community partnerships. Through the Adopt-A-Need Campaign, supporters can contribute directly towards specific needs identified by the home.
During June, priority needs include warm winter clothing such as jerseys, jackets, socks, beanies and pyjamas, as well as additional groceries to cater for increased demand during the school holidays. The organisation is also seeking sponsorship for a fun and educational outing for the children, giving them opportunities to learn, explore and create positive memories.
Additional support is welcomed for sports programmes, art activities, creative supplies, dance classes and skills development initiatives.
The Phoenix Child Welfare expressed its gratitude to sponsors, donors, volunteers and community members whose generosity has helped create a safe and supportive environment for the children in its care.
Community members and organisations interested in supporting the Adopt-A-Need Campaign or contributing towards the June needs can contact Sindi on 031 500-3671 for more information.
