Metro Police continues with crackdown on illegal firearms
This successful operation demonstrates the dedication and collaborative spirit of Metro Police officers to remove illegal firearms from communities.
Three suspects have been arrested, and four unlicensed firearms and ammunition have been recovered during a recent Metro Police operation in the Inanda and Amaoti precincts. The firearms seized included a shotgun and a pistol.
Metro Police spokesperson, Col Boysie Zungu said they are happy with the results of the operation.

He said the arrests will benefit the city and its attempts to curb crime and make communities safer. “This successful operation demonstrates the dedication and collaborative spirit of Metro Police officers to remove illegal firearms from communities,” said Col Zungu.

He said that the mandate from Metro Police head commissioner, Sibonelo Mchunu is clear.
“The commissioner told us that we must wear the city’s badge with honour and pride and that the safety and well-being of residents should take priority, which is what we are trying to do. We extend our gratitude to both internal and external stakeholders, including the Inanda SAPS and the Metro Police EITTA, for aiding us in our fight to reduce crime,” added Col Zungu.
