Local heroes prevent flooding on Naidoo Road in Tongaat
A special acknowledgement goes out to Suresh Ramsahai, David, and Roy for their unwavering dedication. Their actions serve as a reminder of the power of community spirit and the impact of individual efforts in times of crisis.
Three selfless residents of Naidoo Road took quick action to prevent potential flooding in their community on Monday.
With no external assistance and working against the clock, Roy, David, and the acting CPF chairperson, Suresh Ramsahai braved the heavy downpours and unsanitary conditions to clear blocked drains and manholes.
The trio, armed only with spades, ventured into the streets and nearby bushes, ensuring that water could flow freely again.

The challenge was immense, with sewage floating in the rising waters and relentless rainfall making their task even more difficult.

However, their determination and teamwork made the impossible possible, preventing what could have been a disastrous flood for the area. Despite their efforts being purely out of goodwill, their community recognises and deeply appreciates their swift response.
“No fame in their game, just our gratitude to them,” a resident expressed.
Additionally, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) offered their assistance but stood down once they saw that the problem had already been resolved by these dedicated residents.
