Multi-disciplinary operation yields progressive results
Police further heightened visibility at shopping malls and banking institutions. In partnership with valued stakeholders, the police will intensify operations ahead of the festive season.
Chatsworth SAPS recently held a multi-disciplinary operation in the precinct with force multipliers from Public Order Policing as well as security companies, such as Pro Secure, Blue, Mzanzi, PT Alarms, Safe House, and the Community Policing Forum patrollers.
Chatsworth SAPS’ communications officer, Cpt Cheryl Pillay, said that police held targeted operations at liquor outlets and drug dens.

“Police further heightened visibility at shopping malls and banking institutions. In partnership with valued stakeholders, the police will intensify operations ahead of the festive season. Police are encouraging residents to be active partners in the fight against crime by joining the Chatsworth CPF and becoming patrollers with the Community in Blue. During this operation, police received information of suspects, who had committed an armed robbery in Durban, possibly hiding in Chatsworth. Police pounced on an unsuspecting criminal in Shallcross, who was found in possession of the stolen clothing taken in the robbery in Durban. Police recovered a substantial amount of clothing and unlicensed ammunition,” explained Cpt Pillay.

The 23-year-old suspect is due to appear in the Chatsworth Magistrates Court in due course.
