Notorious criminal swiftly arrested in police operation
Station commander of Chatsworth SAPS, Brig Ruth De Villiers, commended the police officers who acted swiftly on the intelligence received.
Chatsworth police in partnership with Metropolitan Police recently arrested a man, who had allegedly been terrorising local communities.
According to communications officer of Chatsworth SAPS, Cpt Cheryl Pillay, police received information from the Crime Intelligence Unit on the whereabouts of the accused linked to burglaries and malicious damage to properties in the Chatsworth policing precinct.

“During the early hours of the morning, Cnst Kistensamy together with Metropolitan Police arrested the 37-year-old man in the Welbedacht West area after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm. Police recovered a rifle with the serial number erased further seizing ammunition. The seized rifle will be sent for forensic analysis to establish if it was used in the commission of other crimes,” said Cpt Pillay.

Further reports indicate that community members came out with excitement and provided police with pending case numbers, glad the notorious trouble-maker was finally arrested.
On April 4, the accused appeared in the Chatsworth Magistrates Court on charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Station commander of Chatsworth SAPS, Brig Ruth De Villiers, commended the police officers who acted swiftly on the intelligence received.
