Man arrested with illegal firearm in Chats CBD
Station commander of Chatsworth SAPS, Brig Ruth De Villiers, commended the team for their swift response, resulting in the arrest and recovery of the firearm.
The swift response from the Chatsworth Police Trio Task Team resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old man, who was found in possession of an illegal firearm, in the Chatsworth CBD, last week.

Communications officer of Chatsworth SAPS, Cpt Cheryl Pillay, said, “It is alleged that on Sunday, August 4, the team received information of suspicious persons. Police immediately followed up and seized a pistol and ammunition. Upon further investigation, police established that the firearm was unlicensed. The suspect will appear in the Chatsworth Magistrates Court soon in terms of the Firearm Controls Act as well as being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.”
