Alleged drug smuggler and kingpin arrested in Chatsworth
During the operation, 134 pieces of suspected rock cocaine, 512 capsules of suspected heroin, 39 mandrax tablets, and 33 bags of crystal meth to the value of R37, 480 were seized.
A wanted Chatsworth drug smuggler and kingpin, who was linked to multiple illegal substance dealings, was arrested by the Metro Police Tactical Support Unit. Metro Police spokesperson, Col Boysie Zungu said the suspect, aged 45, was arrested following a multi-disciplinary operation in the area.
The suspect was apprehended after an intense investigation and an outcry from the Chatsworth community about ongoing violence and drug use.

“During the operation, 134 pieces of suspected rock cocaine, 512 capsules of suspected heroin, 39 mandrax tablets, and 33 bags of crystal meth to the value of R37, 480 were seized,” Col Zungu said.
He added that a criminal case was opened for illegal substance possession and suspected dealing. Metro Police commissioner, Sibonelo Mchunu welcomed the arrest and applauded the consistency of their officers.

“We are hopeful that this arrest will lead to more arrests in and around the city. Our relationship with internal and external law enforcement stakeholders has strengthened as we continue to rid our city of drugs by working together,” Mchunu said.
