A new chapter for pupils
School principal, Yugen Naidoo, shared his excitement and joy as the school library was re-opened.
Through the generous sponsorship of R300,000 from power generation company, Cummins Southern Africa, pupils at Clairwood Secondary School will now be able to enjoy a new library facility after 15 years.
Cummins managing director, Andre Kuhn, said the goals of their company is improve the community and children as they believe in social upliftment. “It is vital that the children of today are empowered and given the tools to a better future as they are the future of this country. I encourage pupils to make use the library as it will have a positive impact on their lives. It will support pupils in their studies and will offer a peaceful and quiet place to study. It will also open a world of wisdom to them. They must use and protect the library as one of their most valuable assets.”
School principal, Yugen Naidoo, shared his excitement and joy as the school library was re-opened. “We have been without a library for years due to lack of funding, but today we are grateful to Cummins for taking this chance on us and affording our pupils this opportunity to reach new heights and garner as much knowledge possible through the books.”
School English teacher, Mrs A Dhoda added, “This was one of the most exciting days in all my years as a teacher. We never had the funds but thanks to Cummins MD and colleagues, we are now able to provide our pupils with better knowledge through books.”
Circuit manager from the education department of the Umlazi district, Mr S Naicker said, “We at the department are unable to meet all the demands, therefore we are grateful to the sponsor and appreciate any help received. Businesses help us to meet are goals and I am glad children will benefit from this generous sponsor.”
