‘Operation Basadi’ shows the softer side of policewomen

The policewomen showed their softer side and donated food parcels and other essential items to the streetwise place of safety and orphanages in the area.

In accordance with their commitment to their Women’s Month programme, the female police officers of Mariannhill SAPS held a crime blitz in their area called ‘Operation Basadi’, last Thursday.

Under the command of Maj Mpete, the operation, which was held in the Mariannhill CBD, focussed on suspects wanted for crimes in the area. Officers conducted searches in taxi ranks, the central business district and illegal shebeens.

Communications officer of Mariannhill SAPS, Cpt Harold, said that after the completion of the crime mandate, the policewomen showed their softer side and donated food parcels and other essential items to the streetwise place of safety and orphanages in the area.

“The caring and nurturing nature that these women, who are also mothers, possess, are very evident as their strength,” added Cpt Harold. Major Mpete added that the Mariannhill SAPS will continue to assist the elderly, underprivileged and children in the area to make the lives of the unfortunate a little better in the coming months.
