In a landmark Hindu spiritual gathering attended by more than 15, 000 people, including KwaZulu-Natal premier, Thami Ntuli, deputy minister of agriculture, Narend Singh, Minority Front leader, Shameen Thakur-Rajbansi, and hundreds of cultural, religious and community leaders, the Chatsworth Stadium became the focal point of a collective celebration of unity, selfless service and social harmony as the Chinmaya Mission hosted ‘From Man to Hanuman’, on Sunday.
The programme commenced with a vibrant and powerful invocation message by His Holiness, Pujya Swami Abhedananda, head of the Chinmaya Mission of SA.
The event formed part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of the global Chinmaya Movement and featured a large scale chanting programme of the Hanuman Chalisa recital led by internationally acclaimed devotional music icon and ‘Bhajan Samrat’, Shri Anup Jalota.

In preparation for the gathering, Chinmaya Mission South Africa launched the ‘Flower of Flour’ initiative, a community-driven campaign to prepare a monumental offering of 25, 000 Rhots to Lord Hanuman. The celebration culminated with each individual receiving lunch prasad with rhot.
