Traffic on the roadway between Bayview and Havenside came to a standstill with the violent crash claiming the life of Larkia Singh, who was travelling with her son, Rajiv Singh. Although the incident occurred on September 20, police are yet to make any significant discoveries.

This much is evident from Rajiv explaining that the police had actually asked him to find any witnesses to the crash, leading to a post on Facebook.
In the post, he said, “I was involved in a motor vehicle accident and I am looking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident. The details are as follows: On Friday, September 20, at approximately 11:10am, I was travelling on the Higginson Highway eastbound between Bayview and Havenside in my white Toyota Corolla Quest. A vehicle (white BMW) that was headed westbound, spun out of control, came across the centre medium at a very high speed and collided with my vehicle. Sadly, my mum passed away at the scene from her injuries. Mum’s care worker and I are still recovering from our injuries. Due to the impact, I was not totally aware of the circumstances and was unable to obtain any details of the other driver or vehicle. Please inbox me urgently, if you or someone you may know has any information about the incident.”
The 56-year-old man provided a closer look at the impact his mother’s death had on both him and his family.

“Mum was a very hardworking woman, who always went out of her way for anyone who knew her, especially her family. She was a people’s person and loved striking up a conversation. She was very articulate and well-spoken – many mistook her for a teacher. My mum did in-store promotions for many companies but mostly, Clover. She was also a top-achieving salesperson for Magimix, Wonder Cooker, AMC, Vanda Cosmetics, and many others. She was widowed on December 25, 2004, and is now survived by her daughter, Shareen, her son-in-law, Andrew, her granddaughters, Saffron and Jasmine, and myself. Her death has been a huge loss to all of us as she was very instrumental in her family and extended family too. I have been struggling to come to terms with her passing as I was taking care of her. I am merely looking for any assistance that may assist in getting us more information regarding the circumstances, the driver as well as details of the other vehicle involved,” said Rajiv.
When news of the crash hit social media, hundreds of users on Facebook, via the East Coast Crime Watch, sent their condolences to the Singhs, while others begged the question of why the Higginson Highway sees accident rates far higher than most roadways.

In addition, one user alleged that the BMW, which was supposedly responsible for the accident, was hit by a VW Polo prior to colliding with the Singhs’ vehicle, thus being the main cause of the accident.
This user also claimed that the driver of this Polo drove on without stopping. Despite such a lead in the case, Rajiv admitted that he had tried contacting this individual, but has received no response to date.
Larkia was cremated on September 23 at the Clare Estate Crematorium, with her loss being felt every day by her family. If you were a witness to this crash, contact W/O Perumal on 074-315-4776.
