Father killed after alleged love triangle turns deadly
It is alleged that Chatsworth SAPS received a complaint of a gunshot wound at the RK Khan Hospital. Upon arrival, the police officer was informed by the hospital that a male was being treated in the emergency room. The son of the man being treated alleged that he and his father went to his mother’s workplace in Moorton Drive, but found that it was closed.
A 60-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly shot and killed another man in what is claimed to have been a suspected love triangle dispute.

eThekwini district communications commander for the SAPS, Cpt Carmen Rhynes, said, “It is alleged that Chatsworth SAPS received a complaint of a gunshot wound at the RK Khan Hospital. Upon arrival, the police officer was informed by the hospital that a male was being treated in the emergency room. The son of the man being treated alleged that he and his father went to his mother’s workplace in Moorton Drive, but found that it was closed. They then proceeded to look for his mother at her apparent boyfriend’s hardware store. It is alleged that there was an argument between the victim and the suspect, who pulled out a firearm, shot his father and then pointed at him with the firearm and assaulted him. Chatsworth SAPS then received a call later from the hospital, stating that the victim had passed away. A case of murder is being investigated and a 60-year-old male has been arrested in the matter.”

According to court documents, the victim, Paul Pillay, was allegedly killed by Rahiman Abdool Sathar, who appeared in the Chatsworth Magistrates Court, on Friday.
The Moorton man was granted bail of R3, 000 and will appear in court once more in October.
