KZN’s most wanted criminal nabbed

Brighton Beach SAPS communications officer, Cpt Louise Le Roux said, “Although the accused has been apprehended, fuel station owners and staff should remain vigilant. Some members of the accused’s group have created splinter groups and are continuing to prey on vulnerable businesses.”

A 24-year-old man, described as one of KZN’s most wanted criminal, was apprehended by the Brighton Beach Task Team members Cnst Sduduzo Makhaye and Cnst Thokozani Malevu in Umlazi, recently.

Ayanda Brian Jaca, together with his team, had been terrorising fuel stations throughout the Durban, South and North Coast regions for months. Jaca also had warrant of arrests issued against him on cases ranging from murder, attempted murder, house robbery, MITP and a case under the sexual offences and related matters committed within the Umlazi policing precinct.  There are also two cases of theft within the Durban Central policing precincts.

Jaca made his first appearance in the Durban Regional Court on Wednesday, March 22, where he abandoned any future bail application possibilities.  He re-appeared in court on Monday, March 27, with four of his accomplices whom were apprehended late last year. The group is currently facing eight charges of business robberies committed at fuel stations within the Brighton Beach, Hillcrest, Bellair, Pinetown and Inchanga policing precincts.

Brighton Beach SAPS detective, W/O Gerhard Grobler is also investigating various robberies throughout the greater Durban area of which linkages to Jaca and his group are expected.
