More chances to qualify for SA’s biggest thunee tournament
The regional qualifier carries a R50 000 prize pool, while successful teams will earn a place in the KwaZulu-Natal national finals.
Thunee enthusiasts have been given even more opportunities to qualify for the Goldrush World Series of Thunee, South Africa’s biggest-ever thunee tournament.
Goldrush has announced a Gauteng qualifier to be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Goldrush Sanridge in Midrand. Registration opens from 7:30am, with the tournament getting underway at 9am.
The regional qualifier carries a R50, 000 prize pool, while successful teams will earn a place in the KwaZulu-Natal national finals.
The tournament has grown into one of the country’s biggest thunee competitions, with a national prize pool of R250, 000 on offer. A total of 64 teams will qualify for the finals in KwaZulu-Natal, where they will compete for the prestigious title.
To date, 32 teams have already secured their places through the Durban regional tournament, with the remaining 32 teams set to qualify through the Gauteng and Chatsworth events.

A second KwaZulu-Natal qualifier will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Goldrush Chatsworth, where teams will compete for a share of R30, 000 in prize money.
The inaugural Durban qualifier was won by Tongaat duo, Dhayalan Puckree and Preshen Ramjutan, who claimed the R30, 000 first prize after an impressive performance.
Teams wishing to enter either qualifier can do so at an entry fee per team. Interested players are required to submit their team name, suburb or area, and the details of both players, including their names, ID numbers, cellphone numbers and Goldrush card numbers.
Entries will only be confirmed once proof of payment has been received.
