LSS hosts successful Inter-school Sports Day
Lenasia School Sport (LSS) chairperson, Duggy Naidoo, said it was a proud moment for the organisation, which had received the blessing of principals, to see learners competing again.
After two years of sports blackout at schools owing to the Covid 19 pandemic, boys and girls are finally back to the sports fields. Secondary and primary schools from around Lenasia participated in the inter-school sports day. Learners and teachers were ecstatic to be back at the sports field to do what they love.
More than 1 500 learners participated. However, only 85 learners from the secondary and 103 from the primary schools progressed to the Inter-District championship.
Lenasia School Sport (LSS) chairperson, Duggy Naidoo, said it was a proud moment for the organisation, which had received the blessing of principals, to see learners competing again.

Naidoo said, “We proud of the fact that sport will never die under our watch. We met with all the principals last year to plan for the 2022 sports programme, and we have had positive input from them. We are pleased to once again say we will continue with sports, provided Covid 19 regulation allows us. We were glad to see the smile on the faces of the children again, and the victory walk. I thank all schools that have participated, volunteers, and most importantly teachers’ assistants in various schools as part of the presidential youth initiative. It was two days of success. I can proudly say that the sport has returned.”

Primary schools that participated included Funda UJabule, Zodiac, Model, Alpha, Park, Impala, Progress, Flamingo, Libra, Pentarosa, and Harmony primary school. Secondary schools include Trinity, Topaz, and UJ.
