‘Still early to make predictions of final outcome in elections’ – IEC
Votes are still being tallied.
While trends are beginning to emerge, it is still too early to make any meaningful predictions of the final outcome in the 2014 elections. This is according to IEC South Africa.
At this point in time, the ANC is sitting at the top of the list with more than five million votes followed by the DA with nearly two million votes. The EFF follows with just over 400, 000 votes nationally. The IFP has over 200, 000 votes presently. Other political parties such as COPE, ACDP and AGANG (to name a few) have not yet reached the 100, 000 mark. The Minority Front has scooped just over 5, 000 votes currently. The total number of votes cast is sitting at 8, 799, 674 presently with a total of 8, 672, 351 votes being valid.
The IEC has taken the opportunity to thank the 218, 000 election officials, party agents, observers and SAPS working night and day to deliver the election results on Twitter as well. Votes are still being tallied.
