A 22-year-old soldier from Phoenix has earned national recognition after being named the South African National Defence Force’s (SANDF) Most Disciplined Soldier, an award recognising exemplary discipline, professionalism, and dedication to service.

Private Jordan Titus Israel, who serves in the South African Military Health Services (SAMHS), received the prestigious award during the annual certificate ceremony held in Pretoria.

The accolade recognises a soldier who consistently demonstrates exceptional discipline, professionalism and adherence to the SANDF’s code of conduct.

It is awarded to a member who performs effectively under pressure, executes orders with precision, maintains operational readiness and exemplifies the highest standards expected of military personnel.

What makes his achievement particularly significant is that he was selected from members across all four branches of the SANDF – the Army, Navy, Air Force and South African Military Health Services – making him the overall recipient of the Most Disciplined Soldier Award.

They acknowledge individuals who consistently exceed expectations while inspiring fellow service members to uphold the highest standards of excellence.

Speaking after receiving the award, Israel said he was humbled by the recognition.

“I am deeply honoured to receive such a huge award. I have worked extremely hard, going above and beyond my normal daily duties to uplift and elevate the standards of the Department of Defence. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve my country through an organisation as great as this, and I look forward to many more successful years ahead. I would like to thank my family for their continuous support and God for showering me with His blessings,” he said.
