Shallcross ‘girlfriend murderer’ sentenced to 12 years in prison
According to initial police reports, the deceased was found with stab wounds by her brother in her home in Naicker Road, Shallcross, on February 2, 2015.
A Shallcross man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the murder of his 32-year-old girlfriend, following his appearance at the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court, recently.
According to initial police reports, the deceased was found with stab wounds by her brother in her home in Naicker Road, Shallcross, on February 2, 2015. However, police confirmed that the victim had a domestic dispute with the accused, Sthembiso Ngcobo, which resulted in him fatally stabbing her.
Communications officer of Chatsworth SAPS, Lt Cheryl Pillay, said, “Police immediately conducted their investigations and proceeded to the South Coast. Within eight hours of this crime being committed, investigators managed to successfully arrest the suspect.”
Following the sentencing, station commander of Chatsworth SAPS, Brig Coenraad Marais commended the officers for the successful conviction and the sentence carried out by the justice system. “Chatsworth SAPS is committed towards ensuring that all cases reported to the police are dealt with efficiently. Perpetrators of crime will be brought to justice,” he said.
