Convicted rapist to spend life behind bars

The Durban Magistrates Court sentenced a 36-year-old man to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of raping his 12-year-old neighbour.

On December 31, 2021, the now convicted rapist lured the little girl to his flat, where he raped her.
The child did not report the matter to her parent, however, her attentive mother overheard her child narrating the rape ordeal to her friend.
The matter was then reported to the police.

Detectives from the Brighton Beach Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit investigated the matter and ensured that the accused was brought to justice.
He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
