Multi-Music Festival shines spotlight on local talent
The festival drew enthusiastic support from the community and celebrated emerging talent from across the city.
Durban’s local entertainment scene came alive on Saturday, May 16, as Multi-Marketing hosted the inaugural Multi-Music Festival at the David Landau Hall in Asherville.
The event marked the official launch of the Durban-based Multi-Music record label and featured a vibrant showcase of local singers, dancers, poets and comedians.
The festival drew enthusiastic support from the community and celebrated emerging talent from across the city.
Among the performers, who took to the stage were singers, Shashika, David Hennessy and Sanny J, who entertained the crowd with energetic musical performances.
Adding to the excitement were the youthful dance duo of Jayson and Tiara, whose lively routines captivated the audience members, while local comedian Sir Bastian kept attendees laughing throughout the event.

In keeping with Multi-Marketing’s long-standing support for literature and the arts, the festival also featured several poets who have appeared in the organisation’s annual flagship publication, the Multi-Marketing Anthology.
The poetry showcase served as the lead-up to the official launch of Poetry In Motion, a new stage poetry competition unveiled during the event.
Festival-goers were also treated to performances and previews of newly released music under the recently established Multi-Music record label.
Organisers said the music is now available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.
The event was hailed as a success, highlighting the depth of artistic talent within Durban’s communities.
Organisers hinted that the Multi-Music Festival could expand beyond KwaZulu-Natal in future, with hopes of eventually taking the platform to audiences across South Africa and internationally as the Multi-Music brand continues to grow.
