Life Chatsmed Garden Hospital sets record straight on ‘early morning chaos’
Emergency response protocols were immediately activated in line with hospital safety procedures, and the incident was swiftly managed.
The management of Life Chatsmed Garden Hospital has dispelled false rumours of a widespread fire in a ward that caused panic in the local community on Friday morning.
In a statement, hospital manager, Tanweer Ansari, said, “Life Chatsmed Garden Hospital would like to correct misinformation circulated publicly this morning, Friday, May 8, 2026, regarding an incident at the hospital. We can confirm that an isolated electrical fault involving an extraction fan in a bathroom in one ward resulted in smoke being emitted. Patient care was not compromised, and no injuries were reported.”

Ansari explained that as a precautionary safety measure, patients in the affected ward were temporarily relocated to non-affected wards.
“Emergency response protocols were immediately activated in line with hospital safety procedures, and the incident was swiftly managed. Following clearance by emergency services, patients have since been safely returned to the ward, and operations continue as normal. We thank our staff and response team for their prompt and professional response in ensuring patient safety,” he concluded.
