KZN police clamp down on crime in multi-disciplinary operation across Durban
The operation, aimed at stamping out the authority of the state and restoring law and order, saw police seal off Dr Pixley KaSeme Street in the Point area, where officers shut down a popular pub that was allegedly operating illegally.
Police in KwaZulu-Natal, led by Lt Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, conducted a large-scale multi-disciplinary operation on Friday night, targeting crime hotspots in Durban Central, Umlazi, and KwaMashu.

The operation, aimed at stamping out the authority of the state and restoring law and order, saw police seal off Dr Pixley KaSeme Street in the Point area, where officers shut down a popular pub that was allegedly operating illegally.
According to provincial police spokesperson, Col Robert Netshiunda, during the enforcement action, the pub’s manager, who was found to be in the country illegally, was arrested.
Large quantities of liquor were also confiscated. Police officers further arrested several suspects on various charges, including possession of drugs and possession of a firearm without a license.
In Umlazi, a suspect was arrested for obstructing police officers in the execution of their duties. The operation also resulted in the arrest of a number of undocumented foreign nationals.

Police said the co-ordinated crackdown forms part of ongoing efforts to tackle serious and violent crime, enforce compliance with liquor and immigration laws, and ensure safer communities across the province. Col Netshiunda reiterated that similar high-impact operations will continue, warning criminals and those operating outside the law that police will not relent in their fight against crime.
