A ‘golden’ celebration for Montford centenarian
The exuberant birthday girl was crowned and sashed in honour of the momentous occasion and showered with gifts, well-wishes, hugs, and prayers.
An atmosphere filled with love, celebration, and cheer prevailed at the Exotic Conference Hall as the Montford Golden Oldies Senior Citizens Club celebrated the 100th birthday of its beloved member, Devi Govender, fondly known as ‘Ma’.
Held on National Women’s Day, it was indeed a double celebration for the club, witnessing excited guests adorned in traditional Eastern wear.

The dynamic chairwoman of the Montford Golden Oldies Senior Citizens Club, Molly Govender, shared, “Ma has been a dedicated member of the club for over 20 years. We have a group of over 100 members, all of whom love, treasure, and appreciate Ma for her golden heart, selfless spirit, and endless wisdom. As the Montford community, we are indeed blessed to have this remarkable woman as part of our society. She suffers from no ailments and is mobile. She is a shining light in our lives, who always spreads joy, care, and love wherever she goes. Today and always, we celebrate her!”
