Centenary Secondary excels at oratory competition

All six participants from Centenary Secondary School, namely Razak Ntsika, Lebo Phewa, Lebohang Phewa, Grace Mwange, Cheryl Cherubim Vhembo, and Thandolwethu Zekhethlo Khumalo, secured spots in the top 18, paving their way to the second round of the competition scheduled for October.

In what can only be described as an extraordinary achievement, Centenary Secondary School has made waves recently by delivering a stunning performance at the prestigious Port Natal Oratorship Inter School Competition.

Against a backdrop of formidable competition from some of the top ex-model C schools in the region, Centenary emerged victorious, showcasing the remarkable talent and dedication of its pupils.

All six participants from Centenary Secondary School, namely Razak Ntsika, Lebo Phewa, Lebohang Phewa, Grace Mwange, Cheryl Cherubim Vhembo, and Thandolwethu Zekhethlo Khumalo, secured spots in the top 18, paving their way to the second round of the competition scheduled for October.

This remarkable achievement not only highlights the pupils’ individual skills but also underscores the school’s commitment to fostering excellence in public speaking and oratory skills. Leading the charge were two standout speakers, Razak and Grace, who each earned the coveted title of Best Speaker in both the FET and GET categories, respectively.

Their exceptional performances were a testament to their hard work, preparation, and passion for oratory.

Mr T Pillay, Mr MA Suleman, Ms A Moosa, and Mrs N Pillay focused on enhancing these pupils’ presentation and public speaking techniques, instilling in them the poise and composure needed to perform under pressure. The final round of the competition looming, the spotlight is now on Razak Ntsika, Grace Mwange, and their peers as they prepare not only to showcase their talents but also to build on their initial triumphs.
