eThekwini Hospital and Heart Centre celebrates official opening of new Acute Rehabilitation Unit
It offers interdisciplinary, team-based rehabilitation services, led by a dedicated team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and rehabilitation nurses working alongside specialists.
The Lenmed eThekwini Hospital and Heart Centre is pleased to announce the official opening of its state-of-the-art Acute Rehabilitation Unit, a vital new facility that expands the hospital’s integrated approach to patient recovery and long-term care.
This purpose-built 41-bed unit with five acute beds is designed to support patients in the critical early phases of recovery following complex medical events such as stroke, spinal cord injury, neurosurgery, cardiac events, major trauma, and other debilitating conditions.
It offers interdisciplinary, team-based rehabilitation services, led by a dedicated team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and rehabilitation nurses working alongside specialists.
The launch event was attended by senior hospital leadership, clinical teams, Lenmed Group executives, and key stakeholders from the broader healthcare community.
