Two killed in Hillary shooting
Bellair police confirmed that three victims had been shot with 9mm pistols. They believe that two gunmen entered the settlement and shot the individuals before fleeing towards the Hillary area.
A man and woman were killed in a violent shooting at an informal settlement on Freemantle Road in Hillary, on Friday.
According to reports from the scene, the shooting was allegedly drug-related, with the victims being some of the most influential in the area. ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, said that emergency service providers responded to the scene just after 8pm on Friday after multiple calls of a shooting incident.

“Initial reports were that three people had been shot numerous times and were in a critical condition. ALS Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the SAPS, multiple security companies, and EMRS already in attendance. Paramedics found that three occupants had sustained gunshot wounds. The victims were two males and a female all believed to be in their 30s. Unfortunately, a male and one female had sustained fatal injuries. There was nothing more that paramedics could do for them – they were declared dead at the scene. The third victim had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg and was treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for the further care that he needed. At this stage, the events leading up to the shooting are unknown, however, the police will be investigating further,” said Jamieson.

Sources indicate that the deceased woman was shot in her head, leg and arm, while the man was shot in his chest, groin, and leg. It is further alleged that the woman was something of ‘queen-pin’ as she allegedly sold and distributed drugs in the area, with police being called to the settlement a few months ago.
This information, however, could not be immediately verified. Two cases of murder and one of attempted murder are currently being investigated by the Bellair SAPS.
