Alleged kidnapper back in custody facing new charges

Charloos is also expected to appear in court on April 15 for the start of his 2022 kidnapping trial.

Faizel Charloos, the accused behind a series of kidnappings, found himself back in police custody on the night of Wednesday, April 2, in Bela Bela, Limpopo. Charloos’ arrest followed his failure to show up in court on Tuesday, April 1, to answer charges linked to the 2022 abduction of a Lenasia businessman.

His alleged accomplices in that case are Kenny Langa, Nelson Cossa, Thabang Tsotetsi, Ahmed Ibrahim Illias, Sadia Charloos, Ahmed KAZI Mohammed, Sadiyah Rasool, and Abureira Charloos.

The National Prosecuting Authority’s regional spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane, revealed to the Lenasia Rising Sun that the three accused – Langa, Cossa, and Tsotetsi – had already been convicted.

Police spokesperson, Col Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi disclosed that Charloos had been out on bail amounting to R1 million, which was revoked on Thursday, April 3, due to his failure to appear in court. A charge of contempt of court was added to his growing list of offences.

With a slew of charges against him, Charloos faces continued court appearances. Col Nevhuhulwi added, “A new charge of kidnapping will be brought against him, and he will be joining his co-accused on Wednesday, April 9.”

This latest charge is connected to the abduction of 20-year-old Mohammad Bhiko on Tuesday, March 18, in Lenasia.  Ahmed Kazi, Abdullah Hassim, Thokozani Sithole, Khanye Magadla and others have been arrested in connection with the case.

Charloos is also expected to appear in court on April 15 for the start of his 2022 kidnapping trial.
