Five suspects due in court for kidnapping, murder and attempted murder

Five suspects are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates Court on charges of kidnapping, attempted murder, illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Provincial police spokesperson, W/O Wendy Nkabi, said, “On the evening of Sunday, March 9, 2025, an Ethiopian businessman was kidnapped at gunpoint in Norwood, Johannesburg by unknown men who were driving a Toyota Prado.”
On Monday, March 10, 2025, the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime (Crimes Against The State CATS), Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), Vision Tactical and Cap Specialised Services followed up on information of a victim who was being held captive in Kensington, Johannesburg.
A search and seizure warrant was obtained and officers proceeded to the identified premises to execute.

“While at the scene, more information was received about more suspects who were stopped and searched while driving a Toyota Auris in Sophiatown, Johannesburg. Upon searching the vehicle, jewellery belonging to the kidnapped victim was found and the four suspects were subsequently arrested,” said W/O Wendy Nkabi.
