Relocation row: Residents block road in protest

One group fiercely opposes relocation, citing a disputed land claim by Lenz Drive, which allegedly purchased the land between 1975 and 1985. Others eagerly await their move to Roodepoort Farm, only to be left in limbo by repeated relocation delays.

Anger and frustration boiled over as residents of Precast, Mazibuko, and Kapok informal communities blocked the K43 Road with burning tyres and rocks. This is due to the relocation of 40 households to Roodepoort Farm, a move that’s left many feeling betrayed and divided.
