Wheelchair donation brings joy to the less fortunate
The distribution of the wheelchairs coincides with the celebration of Kuan Yin, who is a prominent figure in Buddhism. ‘Kuan Yin’ means ‘observer of the sights and sounds of the world’. In honour of Kuan Yin, the organisation is helping make the lives of the disabled better.
The Buddha’s Light International Association in Durban and YS Distributors recently handed out 100 wheelchairs to the less fortunate at the Phoenix Technical School.
The association marked its 15th year of donating wheelchairs and winter warming parcels that have helped thousands of people in the community.

Participants are encouraged to pray with a clean heart in order to receive blessings from Buddha. The event included the chanting of the sutras to the Buddha, teachings of a peaceful way of life and a detailed demonstration of how to use the wheelchair.
Each attendee received a blanket and was sprinkled with holy water by the Master at the end of the event.
