Donation of wheelchairs and buggies bring relief to the physically challenged

The specialised wheelchairs were secured from Medop CC, who conducted the assessment, assembly, and seating specifications of the wheelchairs. Recipients included children and adults diagnosed with cerebral palsy, amputees, spinal bifida, and paraplegia.

A special ceremony was held at the Association of and for Persons with Disabilities KwaZulu-Natal (APD KZN), recently, where 15 physically challenged residents received specialised wheelchairs and buggies.

These were generously donated by First Rand Bank. The representatives, who were present at the function, handed over the wheelchairs to those in need.

The recipients were emotionally overwhelmed after receiving the wheelchairs and buggies, as without them, they are often confined to their homes and beds, socially isolated, and excluded from educational and employment opportunities.

The donation by First Rand Bank is a welcome relief and beacon of hope for recipients, who have been given the gift of mobility, as well as enhanced quality of life and the ability to experience their lives to a greater extent. The recipients expressed their gratitude to FNB and everyone involved.

“We are sincerely appreciative to First Rand Bank for their partnership and generous sponsorship of the wheelchairs and buggies,” members of APD-KZN said.
