Wanted gang member arrested in crime intelligence operation

A joint crime intelligence operation led to the successful apprehension of a wanted suspect, linked to a spate of street robberies in the Chatsworth community.
“On the evening of Thursday, June 27, security teams involved in the crime intelligence-driven operation received information from a source regarding the whereabouts of a gang member linked to a group that had been terrorising the Chatsworth community. We were also informed that this individual was in possession of a revolver pistol. An operational team gathered and members were immediately deployed to the Welbedacht west area,” explained Charnel Hattingh, head of communications and marketing for the Fidelity Services Group.

“As the suspect’s mother was approached and questioned regarding her son’s whereabouts, the suspect attempted to flee on foot carrying a plastic bag. He didn’t get far and was successfully apprehended and arrested,” added Hattingh.

The plastic bag was searched and a black loaded, unlicensed revolver was discovered. Live ammunition was also seized and handed over to the Chatsworth SAPS.
