Police bust Bellair drug dealers
Officers of the Bellair sector team and the eThekwini district intervention task team also followed up on information regarding a 28-year-old man, who was dealing drugs at a local informal settlement.
Bellair police recently arrested multiple drug dealers and an unlicensed liquor dealer as the men and women in blue continue with their efforts to rid the streets of illicit substances.
Communications officer of Bellair SAPS, W/O Pam Pillay, provided more insight into the successes.

“On April 25, police officers attached to the Bellair sector team followed up on information, which led to the arrest of a 32-year-old man for possession of 37 pieces of rock cocaine with a street value of R1, 850. R350 in cash was also seized. In a separate incident on the same night, information was received regarding a 19-year-old suspect, who was dealing in drugs at a hotspot in the Bellair area. The teen was found to be in possession of 47 capsules of heroin, seven pieces of rock cocaine and three mandrax tablets with R290 in cash also being seized. The value of the drugs seized was R1, 880,” said W/O Pillay.

“Police officers acted on the information and upon searching the property, 55 green and white capsules of suspected heroin, 35 clear ziplock bags of suspected crystal meth and ten beige tablets, suspected to be mandrax, to the value of R3, 050, were seized along with R190 in cash. While searching, police officers came across another man, who had decided to flee, after noticing the officers, leading to a chase. Upon apprehension, the man was found with ten green and white capsules, suspected to be heroin. The suspects were detained accordingly,” added W/O Pillay.

Lastly, officers followed up on information pertaining to the illegal sale of alcohol.
“Upon arrival where alcohol was being served, police officers saw the exchange of money for alcohol. A 40-year-old suspect, a foreign national, was charged for dealing in liquor without a license,” concluded W/O Pillay.
