Chatsworth’s love for wrestling awakened in massive wrestling show that will cause a rumble!
In a recent interview with an excited Nightmare, he spoke about his dream finally becoming a reality.
Chatsworth’s Arena Park Regional Hall will soon be transformed into a wrestling realm as wrestling champion and icon, Daryl Naidu, most popularly known as Nightmare, stages one of the biggest and greatest shows his hometown has ever seen.
Under the title of ‘Live Pro Wrestling: The Awakening’, the action-packed show attached to the banner of World Wrestling Alliance- a brand recently launched by Nightmare himself, is set to give Chatsworth and surrounding areas a taste of what promises to be an evening of the best in-cross promotion dream matches and live events.
In a recent interview with an excited Nightmare, he spoke about his dream finally becoming a reality.
“WWA aims to be the wrestling hub of South Africa by promoting the amazing and diverse wrestling culture of South African wrestling. We are currently working with the best wrestling federations scattered across our rainbow nation. We will be opening a high-performance training centre to help develop our youth and help them start their journey into the disciplined world of ring and contact sports,” he shared.
He described the upcoming show as the biggest that Durban, if not South Africa, has ever witnessed.
He was confident as he said, “The reason why I say this is simple: In SA, wrestling promotions in their respective territories often host shows and use their own in-house stars. It is very seldom occasions that one sees a wrestler from another promotion wrestling on the same show. Each promotion has its top stars so I had this dream of booking the top superstars from the top promotions in SA and flying them to the launch of WWA in one of the biggest cross-promotion live wrestling events ever.”
Some of the highlights of the massive show include action-packed matches, a cruiserweight high-flying match, an international singles world title match, a tag team match, an icon vs icon singles dream match, and a 15-man over-the-top rope rumble.

“That’s all I can give away at this stage. You’re going to have to be there to witness the greatness of it all,” he chuckled. Also forming part of the exciting programme for the evening will be an official launch and ribbon cutting ceremony by guests of honour.
“I will let readers on a little secret too. There will also be a hall of fame ceremony as we induct two living wrestling legends. With all this and more, ‘Live Pro Wrestling: The Awakening’ is going to rock Chatsworth,” he enthused.
Nightmare has always been passionate about giving back to his hometown and this has always been abundantly evident in each and every one of his endeavours and projects. “It’s time to bring the world to Chatsworth. There are big plans that have been set in motion and it all starts with The Awakening,” he divulged.
Nightmare has not spared any cost and is going all out to ensure that his hometown receives nothing but the best! When questioned about why he chose the Arena Park Regional Hall as the venue of choice, he revealed that 18 years ago, he participated in his first match in the very same hall.
“This is where it all began for me and where I transitioned from the high school dropout who never made his parents proud into the icon role model and superstar that I have become. This was the day my dad embraced me and told me that he was proud of me. Five years ago, I was undergoing chemotherapy for RCC kidney cancer and almost gave up until my dad encouraged me to fight hard and make a comeback. He was my biggest fan and he even started building me a wrestling ring. Shortly after I made a full recovery, he fell ill and passed away. My dad always wanted me to book the Arena Park Regional Hall again and host a show for Chatsworth. So this is me finishing my story and dedicating this event to my beloved dad,” he said.
Through the World Wrestling Alliance, Nightmare plans on building a high-performance training centre to coach and train youngsters, ultimately sharpening their futures in and outside the squared circle.
“With the love and support from Chatsworth residents, we can build and bring bigger and better things to our hometown and give kids a chance to enjoy life and experience things they could only dream about or see on TV. Keep your eyes peeled to the Rising Sun newspaper in the coming weeks for more enticing details regarding ‘Live Pro Wrestling: The Awakening’,” he concluded. ‘Live Pro Wrestling: The Awakening’ takes place on April 13 at the Arena Park Regional Hall.
