New pedestrian bridge to change lives of Amaoti residents
Resident, Nolitha Ntshangase expressed her gratitude towards city officials for the new bridge.
Residents of Geneva in Amaoti in ward 57 will soon be able to safely access facilities and services thanks to a pedestrian bridge that is nearing completion in the area.
Ward councillor, Vincent Khunju said he is happy that residents in his ward will now be able to safely move around.
“This has been a longstanding request from the residents but finally the bridge is in the completion stage. There are lots of other development and repair projects underway in our ward following the recent floods. We ask residents to bear with us as we try our utmost best to render efficient and effective service delivery,” said Cllr Khunju.

Residents said they have been struggling to cross the river to gain access to services such as clinics, schools, supermarkets, workplaces, transport and others.
They relied on an old wooden bridge, which was not safe to use. Resident, Nolitha Ntshangase expressed her gratitude towards city officials for the new bridge.
“We have suffered due to not having a safe bridge. We were dependent on an old wooden bridge that was not safe to use and would get flooded on rainy days. We thank eThekwini Municipality and Cllr Vincent Khunju for a job well done,” said Ntshangase.
