Thank you for supportling the “Race Against TB Fun Run/Walk”
The event aimed at creating TB awareness through a sporting event and honour a legend who represented Amahlongwa Mission in the 80s.
Sizamimpilo Amahlongwa Support Group would like to thank the people who sacrificed their Sunday sermon to bless the “Race Against TB Fun Run/Walk”.
Our sincere gratitude goes to the winners of various groups, from the veterans to seniors, juniors, and youngsters.
The event aimed at creating TB awareness through a sporting event and honour a legend who represented Amahlongwa Mission in the 80s.
The legend is Mr Raymond “Fanlo” Khuzwayo, who represented clubs Iscor, and AIC, to mention a few, in the Natal and South African Championships.
This means he holds Natal Colours (Black and White) and the Springbok Colours.
He calls them Green and Gold-South African Colours. His most famous victory was the Citi to Citi 42km (35km) from KwaMashu to Umlazi. He was featured in most newspapers and still has copies stored since 1985.
We felt we should honour this legend while he is alive as the youth has much to learn from him.
Mr Khuzwayo has expressed his eagerness to coach upcoming athletes in the community.
Our appreciation goes to the main sponsor of the event Dr P Mazula-Kironde (Mediacoin), who made the dream of another social athlete come true to host an event of such magnitude and honour his childhood hero.
The event wouldn’t be possible and successful if it wasn’t for Hampson Auto SUZUKI Scottburgh, Umdoni Private Ambulance, Umdoni Traffic and Protection Services, Umkomaas Athletics Club, and Scottburgh Athletic Club, KwaHluzingqondo High School, Injabulo Primary School, and GJ Crookes Hospital staff.
Thank you to Dr Mazula, who gave a comprehensive talk about TB PTB, MDR, XDR, and HIV/AIDS and urged the community to screen and start treatment immediately when diagnosed. Appreciation also goes to the community, families, and friends.
