Karate students all set for the next challenge
Among the many competitors from IFFSKSA who competed in this championship, the organisation manage to achieve a 95 percent success rate in achieving top three positions in their respective divisions.
The students of the International Federation of Funakoshi Shotokan Karate South Africa (IFFSKSA) represented KwaZulu-Natal at the SA Open and Elite Championships held at DUT, recently.
Among the many competitors from IFFSKSA who competed in this championship, the organisation manage to achieve a 95 percent success rate in achieving top three positions in their respective divisions.

The winners who achieved the top honours in the respective divisions were Ashlyn Pillay, Warren Pillay, Shinolan Naidu, Rafe Moodley, Lauren Munsami, Tezlin Singh, Sandesh Ramsaroop and Lutfiya Sheik.
Chief coach of IFFSKSA, Sensei Malvin Govender said that the students are now preparing for the National Funakoshi Cup Tournament.
“The tournament will be held at the University of KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, August 26. It will be of a very high standard. The training programme includes a high level of physical fitness, strength and conditioning as well intense karate drills,” he added.
Founder, president and chief instructor of IFFSKSA, Kyoshi Eric Govender congratulated the athletes on their excellent performance and encouraged them to excel at the national events.
