Eyewitnesses in fatal taxi accident sought by police
It is alleged that the driver of a taxi, had fallen asleep whilst driving along Higginson Highway, at about 3:30am, and hit the curb on the right lane just before the Bayview off-ramp.
Detectives of the Bayview SAPS are currently searching for witnesses of a crash, which claimed one life, during the early hours of Sunday, June 28.
It is alleged that the driver of a taxi, had fallen asleep whilst driving along Higginson Highway, at about 3:30am, and hit the curb on the right lane just before the Bayview off-ramp.
According to detectives investigating the case, the taxi crashed into trees alongside the highway before veering across the three-lane highway and went down a ditch, damaging two fences of a house on Sanyo Place in Havenside.
The driver succumbed to his injuries. No other passengers were in the vehicle. Eyewitnesses can contact Det W/O Faruk on 031-405-7224 or 083-885-0956.
