Kenville residents urged to re-register as voting station reopens
Residents, who were previously registered to vote at Kenville Primary School, are being urged to transfer their voter registration back to the school after the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) reinstated it as an official voting station.
After months of appeals from community organisations and residents, Kenville Primary School has been reinstated by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) as an official voting station, with residents now being urged to transfer their voter registration back to the school.
Residents, who were previously registered to vote at Kenville Primary School, are being urged to transfer their voter registration back to the school after the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) reinstated it as an official voting station.
The move follows longstanding concerns raised by the Kenville and Sea Cow Lake Ratepayers and Residents Association and the Kenville and Sea Cow Lake Community Policing Forum after Kenville Primary School was removed as a voting station and merged with Sea Cow Lake Secondary School.
The change was estimated to have affected more than 1, 000 prospective voters, many of whom were required to cast their ballots at Sea Cow Lake Secondary School.

Residents wishing to transfer back to Kenville Primary School must re-register at the school on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, between 8am and 5pm. IEC officials will be on site throughout the weekend to assist voters with the registration process. To confirm their current voting station, residents can SMS their South African identity number to 32810.
Meanwhile, the IEC has also warned the public to be vigilant against fake recruitment notices and other misleading content circulating on social media ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.
The Commission said a fraudulent notice claiming it has 25, 750 vacancies available for the upcoming elections was not issued by the IEC.
The IEC stressed that all legitimate employment opportunities are advertised only on its official website and urged members of the public not to share personal information or respond to contact details contained in fake notices.
Residents are encouraged to verify election-related information through the IEC’s official communication platforms to avoid falling victim to misinformation.
