Police probe fatal Springtown shooting
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and police have not disclosed whether the attack may have been targeted.
Police have launched a murder investigation following the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old man in Springtown, on Thursday morning.
The victim has been identified as Cliffy ‘Sausage’ Subramoney, who was gunned down on the corner of Lotus Road and Foxglove Place shortly after 11:20am.
ALS Paramedics responded to reports of a shooting and arrived to find members of the South African Police Service already on the scene with the area cordoned off.

Paramedics found Subramoney lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their assessment, he showed no signs of life and was declared dead at the scene.
According to Sydenham SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Simo Jili, officers responded to reports of a shooting in Foxglove Place, where they discovered the body of an Indian man with multiple gunshot wounds. “A murder case has been opened. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage, and Sydenham SAPS detectives are investigating the matter,” said Sgt Jili.

The killing has left residents of the normally sleepy neighbourhood shaken as detectives continue gathering evidence and interviewing potential witnesses.

No arrests had been made at the time of publication as investigators continued to pursue all possible leads.
