Suspect arrested as police crack down on drug syndicate in Shallcross

The Durban Metro Police Service drug team, the trio crimes unit, and the Business Forum Task Team, conducted an intelligence-driven operation targeting a well-known drug syndicate in Shallcross, recently.

During the operation, officers recovered a significant quantity of Stilpane syrup containing codeine, which was being stored inside a motor vehicle. Stilpane syrup is often mixed with cool drinks to make the dangerous drink known as ‘Lean’, which gives users a narcotic high.

A suspect was arrested and charged in terms of the Medicines and Related Substances Control Act.

This success was achieved through a strong collaboration with Counter Narcotics KZN Crime Intelligence, the Chatsworth SAPS detective tracing team, Dew Force, PT Alarms Chatsworth ambassador, Fenton Govender, ATS Security, and Storm K9.
