Stolen vehicle and key cloning devices seized in Umlazi operation

Durban Metro Police, working closely with partner agencies, remains committed to dismantling vehicle theft syndicates and associated criminal networks.

The Durban Metro Police Service, together with partner units including the Crime Intelligence Unit, eThekwini Infrastructure Task Team (EITT), Tracing Point Security, and Spentry Security, recently conducted an intelligence-driven operation in the Umlazi policing area, which targeted multiple premises in P, Q, and B Sections following information received from a reliable source.

During the search, officers recovered a stolen Toyota Fortuner that had been stripped of various parts, multiple VW CPU boxes, an AUTEL device used for vehicle key cloning, and several vehicle jamming devices.

The stolen vehicle was confirmed as sought in a theft case, and all equipment believed to be linked to criminal activities was seized. Several suspects were arrested and detained at Umlazi SAPS for further investigation.
