Northwood Boys join Phoenix schools for community outreach programme
Teenagers from Northwood immersed themselves in nurturing talents, building confidence, and fostering learning beyond the classroom.
In a powerful demonstration of youth-driven change, pupils from Northwood Boys High School joined hands with three Phoenix-based primary schools – Grandmore Primary, Brailsford Primary, and Phoenix Pioneer Primary – in a four-day community outreach initiative that aimed to uplift and empower local pupils.
The programme, which ran from June 23 to June 26, focused on developing sports, reading, and gardening skills among learners from the participating schools.
Through mentorship and shared activities, the Northwood pupils provided guidance, encouragement, and support to youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds. Described as a heartening display of solidarity and leadership, the outreach effort was warmly received by the schools and community.

The success of the initiative was made possible through the collaboration of the four school principals, Northwood’s dedicated co-ordinators, and generous sponsors, notably Buildrite and Mr Afzal Peerbhai – whose support was instrumental in bringing the vision to life.
Teachers praised the project as a remarkable example of what can be achieved when schools and communities work together for a common goal. As the programme concluded, the sense of unity and inspiration it left behind is expected to resonate in the lives of both the pupils who gave and those who received.
