Afrimat’s head of communications, Tanya Pretorius, said, “Afrimat values positive and constructive relationships with the communities surrounding all our operations. It is important to note that the Scottburgh Quarry is a marginal operation, and recent community disruptions have led to significant financial losses. Additionally, community encroachment onto the mining area has further compounded the situation. Our regional manager for social development will meet with community representatives to discuss these pressing issues. We hope this engagement will lead to a positive outcome and a mutually beneficial resolution.”
